Perhaps many people would only see one type of baccarat being played on a casino table. Mini baccarat, also sometimes called as punto banco or North American baccarat, is the only game of such kind being played in casinos such as those in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Macau.
What attracts most people into baccarat is the simplicity of how it is played. Winning and losing are solely based on chance. There is basically nothing that any player can do to improve his or her game in the baccarat table. It is just simply choosing to bet on the dealer or on the player.
Some television shows and movies have featured the card counting strategy. This card game technique may work very well in blackjack, but not in baccarat. The only glimmer of hope that card counting can help in baccarat is when there are only a few remaining cards in the shoe. Even at that point, the percentage of predicting the card right is almost negligible.
What is the value of each card in baccarat? Cards 2 to 9 are taken on face value. The 10 and face cards are counted as zero while aces are equal to 1. When the sum of the values of the two cards is greater than 9, the tens digit is eliminated. For example, if a 4 and a 9 come out of a single hand, the value for it is 3 instead of 13.
You always have full control on where to bet in mini baccarat. The hand that comes out closest to 9 wins the game. The only thing that has to be avoided is the tie bet where the player normally has the odds against him or her. Come to think of it – it’s a no-brainer game.
