Baccarat is a Heavy Hitters Game

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

Although baccarat is a fairly easy game to play you need to be patient with your self. It takes some practice in becoming a heavy hitter, but when you master that skill you should be able to win more baccarat hands than you lose.

If you have never played for money before you will want to read the following overview of the betting process during one version of the game. It is quite simple once you have already practiced playing baccarat at least a few times before joining others in the casino.

When you play baccarat in a casino there are usually up to three different betting areas assigned to the game. Those that want to bet that the banker will win will sit in the banker dealer area.

Likewise, those who want to bet that the banker will win will usually sit in the area closest to the banker. (Note: The banker is one of the players of the game, playing a banking role.)

A third area is the “standoff” area, where players will sit if they want to bet that either the banker or the dealer will receive the same point total. The game starts out when you bet in one of these three areas.

Then two cards each are distributed to each player and the dealer. The one whose who hand is closest to nine without going over is the winner.

Knowing a little about how a basic game of baccarat is played, it will help guide you in your betting operations. You can also consider the tips listed below:

  • • Search for a table that uses the fewest card decks. This will increase your chance of winning as the odds will be lower.
  • • Bet with the banker for as long as the casino you are at will allow.
  • • Pace your bets as evenly as possible. You do not want to run out of money too soon.
  • • Observe others play before you start your own baccarat “career”.

The above-mentioned tips are not an absolute guarantee that you will win big in baccarat. However, your chances will increase greatly.

What do Poker mind got to do with Baccarat?

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Baccarat and poker are two different types of card games. But what do they both have in common?

In order to play both types of games-poker or baccarat-you need to have a poker mind. What this means is you need to be able to think like a card player in order to play the game. You need to be shrewd and cautious, and you also need to know when to take a chance.

Furthermore, having a “poker mind” while playing baccarat will also translate into having a poker face. This involves in keeping your emotions at bay during game play and whenever possible to not express them so people do not know what you are thinking.

If you have a poker mind while playing baccarat, it will also help you make sound decisions during the game. The trick, of course, is to know how to develop that poker mind.

One way you can develop a strong poker mind for baccarat play is be reading tips from various experts. Plenty of books are available on the market to help you know and understand the mind of an advanced or pro baccarat player.

You can also observe others play a hand at your local casino. You might also want to get together with some friends and practice at home just for “fun”. The more you spend time practicing baccarat the better chances you will have when you play in a casino.

When you feel you are ready to play in a casino, you may want to first play with other beginners if you are a beginner. It will be obvious to you while you observe for a few rounds which tables at the casino are meant for novice players and which ones are meant for more advanced players.

Another way to develop your baccarat poker mind is to perhaps join leagues if there are any in your area. They may even have a tournament you can enter in your city or in a nearby location.

If you are looking for a good book to read regarding having a poker mind in general you  may want to try Inside the Poker Mind: Essays on Hold-‘em and General Poker Concepts. If you want to learn more specifically how to succeed at Baccarat you may want to refer to reading material such as The Baccarat Battle Book.

Increased number of participants in the Game

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Various theories surround the actual winning potential when there are an increased number of participants involved in a baccarat game. Some believe that increased number of participants in a game of baccarat would allow for bigger winnings.

This is true, but only if the casino allows it. Usually only one of two hands only is bet upon-the player and the banker which brings the betting ratio down to 1:1. This means that your payoff is what you bet.

A third may be bet upon as well, which would be the tie, which indicates that the banker and the player receive a similar point value. That would bring the betting ration up to 8:1, which means you get 8 times what you bet.

Knowing this, you can most likely see that increased number of players at a baccarat game does not really increase the amount of your winnings. Again, the only exception is if a casino allows for increase numbers of players to bet at the same time.

Usually the way to win the biggest payout is, again, by betting on a tie. However, you also need to be aware that the casino edge on a tie is considerably higher for a tie-a little over 14 % versus only a little over 2% for betting on the banker or the player.

One advantage to having an increased amount of players sitting at the baccarat table is time for observation. Players can see how other betters and players strategize for the win. However, note also that it is said that the probability of winning decreases with the number of decks of cards used in a baccarat game.

It is often recommended that players stick to a table that uses as few of decks of cards as possible. The average is usually six to eight decks at one table at a time.
